AeroSub Mark I - Submersible Autonomous Vehicle

AeroSub Mark I — Submersible Autonomous Vehicle

AeroSub Mark I is our custom-embossed PETG 3D-printed hybrid-hull autonomous platform. Designed for Level 2 autonomy demonstrations, it focuses on precise depth-hold, zero-lag surface communication, and computer vision integration. The platform is ideal for the UOL SAVD 2026 Competition, subsea robotics research, and physical maneuvering.

Typical configuration: epoxy-coated EMAX 2306 brushless motors, 30A BLHeli_S ESCs flashed to Bidirectional Mode, an off-the-shelf airtight rigid container as the pressure vessel, an onboard Pixhawk 2.4.8 for PID stabilization, and a Raspberry Pi 5 for higher-level OpenCV processing. Power relies on a 4S LiPo battery (14.8V nominal), with consumption depending heavily on static ballast tuning and continuous vertical thruster usage.

- Team RoboSapiens (AeroSub Mark I)

AeroSub Mark I is modular by design: the external chassis and hermetically protected internal payload can be isolated, and the software stacks can be easily modified for experimental computer vision algorithms. It serves as a highly reliable platform for physical maneuvering and a capable autonomous vehicle under the hood.

If you need a different hydrodynamic profile or thruster configuration, the external chassis supports quick mechanical and hardware changes, such as integrating custom Kort nozzles. Documentation, live budget ledgers, and basic MAVLink/OpenCV Python scripts are provided in the project vault for fast starts.
